What will happen at my weight loss consultation?
At your initial assessment with the prescriber there will be an assessment which will include discussions around the different options for weight management. They will carry out checks to make sure you are eligible, this includes BMI, medical assessment and medication history. The risks and benefits of starting the medication will be discussed, so you have the information to make the right choice for you. If suitable for the treatment, the medication will be ordered directly from the pharmacy and delivered usually within 48 hours. You will be given guidance on how to administer the medication and offered a review in 4 weeks to review the dosage.
Who Can Use Prescription Weight Loss Medications?
Weight loss injections are prescription-only medications designed for people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or above, or those with a BMI of 27+ who have weight-related health conditions such as high blood pressure.
To be prescribed one of these medications, you must book a face-to-face consultation at The Aesthetics Studio with our prescriber who will assess your suitability. These injections should be used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise for the best results.

which Weight Loss Injections are Available at the aesthetics studio?
We offer two leading weight loss injections: Mounjaro and Wegovy. Each works differently, and our prescribers will help you choose the most suitable option based on your needs and medical history.
Mounjaro® and Wegovy® are both weight loss treatments. Both medications are weekly injections. They work by:

Are Mounjaro® and Wegovy® the same?
Although Mounjaro® and Wegovy® work in similar ways, they are not the same.
The active ingredient in Mounjaro® is called tirzepatide. This ingredient activates two hormonal receptors (GIP and GLP-1). When these hormones are mimicked, your appetite is suppressed, blood sugar is better regulated, and the rate of food leaving the stomach is slowed down. All of these actions result in weight loss.
The active ingredient in Wegovy® is called semaglutide. This works by mimicking the hormonal receptor GLP-1, resulting in the same actions mentioned above. However, Wegovy® does not mimic GIP.
Mounjaro vs Wegovy: Effectiveness
Numerous studies have examined the effectiveness of Mounjaro and Wegovy for weight loss. Both have shown significant weight loss results in clinical trials. In the SURMOUNT-1 study, 15 mg of Mounjaro led to an average weight loss of 22.5% over 72 weeks, while in the STEP-1 trial, 2.4 mg of Wegovy resulted in a 15% reduction over 68 weeks. For the best results, combining either treatment with a healthy diet and exercise plan is essential.
