HAYFEVER TREATMENT

We offer two different options to treat symptoms of hayfever, allergies and allergic rhinitis. You will find information on both treatments as they differ in how they work and require careful consideration before proceeding.

Haytox/ALLERTOX

Haytox is a spray treatment to reduce the symptoms of hayfever, popular in Australia and now in the UK too. Botulinum toxin A is delivered into the nasal passage as an aerosol through a disposable intranasal atomiser device, providing a needle free, steroid free, tablet free solution to pollen allergies. It can be used to effectively treat hayfever (allergic rhinitis). This innovative treatment helps alleviate symptoms by desensitising the nasal nerves responsible for the allergic reaction.

Hayfever can significantly impact quality of life, causing discomfort, hindering daily activities, and exacerbating asthma and sinus issues. In Scotland, hayfever season typically starts with tree pollen release in March or April and can last until the end of September. Some individuals may experience symptoms all year-round.

While antihistamines and nasal sprays can offer relief, they often require daily use and may lose effectiveness over time. Additionally, long-term use of antihistamines has been linked to an increased risk of dementia.

Haytox is gently sprayed into the nasal passages, working by blocking or desensitising the nerves that trigger hayfever symptoms. The effects of Haytox can take up to two weeks to work and typically last throughout the hayfever season.
